my week as a whole

THis week has been pretty crazy... first we had compositions due in music theory... been taking videos, so those need to be edited / encoded... then wednesday was challenger's talent show... brother didn't win, but i think he sounded best... no clipping, all that good stuff :]

Thursday night, i heard about Abby Sunderland, a 16 year old attempting sail around the world. Simply put, she lost communications, and then not long after, two of her manually activated EPIRBs were triggered and an international search effort was launched. Since then, people have been criticizing her and her parents for letting her go alone, endangering her, and even picking the wrong boat to use. First of all, her parents letting her go is like our parents letting us drive. From what I've read, she has grown up around boats, been single handing since 13. She had already made it more than half way around the world. If that isn't enough to prove she is capable, I really don't know what will. Secondly, like she said, "As for age, since when does age create gigantic waves and storms? ". This could've happened to anyone. Lastly, the choice of a boat. They say a racing boat was not the correct type. Her boat, Wild Eyes, was a Category 0, meaning it was meant for single handing in the southern seas, virtually unsinkable with 5 watertight compartments, and has already been around the world once. What happened was her mast broke due to a big wave. If she caused the wave that broke her mast, I'm pretty sure she has bigger problems.

today we had a piano recital... fail fail fail fail fail... not enough time to practice :3 but here's some pics afterward...
