Christmas break has been pretty good up until now, but let the torture begin... :3
anyway, figured I'd make one last post before I hide and do homework all day for the rest of the week (hopefully not, but mehh...)
I went up to Big Bear on Thursday to get some driving experience with my dad and to just go to some place new... didn't do much, but it was nice... although there was only a few feet of snow I got to drive on... ah well xP

Friday was our Christmas Eve service at church... it wasn't super elaborate or fancy or anything, but that really isn't the whole point, and it went pretty well... I mainly just took pictures before and after, but not too many pictures during... Phil Wickham and the fambam were doing a 11:00 service at horizon, but sadly, I'm not legal yet, so still have to be back home by 11... and couldn't get a ride... and it was Christmas Eve, so probably was wise to spend it with mom...
Hey look it's Alby!

Tim's pedalboard

Went downtown yesterday with a couple of friends and spent a day there... I'll just outline what we did becuase we did quite a lot... Spent $14 on a regional day pass, which allowed us to take the coaster, trolley, bus (including the breeze), and sprinter.
7:16AM - Coaster: Sorrento Valley to Santa Fe Depot in Downtown
Walked across the street to American Plaza, took Orange Line to Gaslamp and went to Broken Yolk Cafe for an amazing breakfast

Took Orange Line back to American Plaza, and walked down the Embarcadero, then to Seaport Village, and then Convention Center (could've taken trolley, but breakfast was big :])
Took Orange Line back to American Plaza and then got on Blue Line to Old Town
Walked around Old Town a little bit, got some real root bear in glass bottles, packed them away in my backpack, then Blue Line back to American Plaza.
Got on Blue Line to Seaport for lunch at Marion's (fish and chips with the root beer we bought earlier...

On our way back to trolley, saw this cone that was bolted into the ground... hard core! :3

Took Orange Line back to American Plaza

Got on Blue Line to Horton Plaza... Went up to the arcade to check it out... they were going out of business and were selling their games... pretty pricey but was pretty cool :] also spent a dollar on air hockey
Took Blue Line back to American Plaza, then Orange Line to the Convention Center stop because we saw this really interesting park thing... (MLK Promenade apparently... it was really nice...)
As we got off the trolley, we saw this freight train pass by... Watched the whole thing pass... all it carried was container after container of cars... Hondas, mostly Toyotas, and a few VWs, we're guessing from Long Beach...
As nerdy as it sounds, trains are pretty amazing, just how they can move so much cargo at once... this train was probably well over a mile long...

as you can see, I went with a couple of idiots. not really xP I was just as amazed and I asked him to act excited for the picture

We proceeded to check the park out and sat there for 5-10minutes, then walked to gaslamp to get pinkberry (first time, completely different than the self serve yogurt we were used to, but very very good)
Then instead of taking the trolley, we decided to walk back to Horton Plaza. We were going to get coffee once we got back to American plaza, but I remembered that there was starbucks inside Horton so we went there instead.
We were planning on taking the Blue Line back to American, but we missed it so we just walked back because it wasn't really that far... Now that I look back, throughout the course of the day, we took a complete loop around downtown downtown san diego (no i did not repeat it on accident...)
We decided to go to seaport to kill a little bit of time before our 4:22 coaster back to Sorrento Valley... we had unlimited rides on the trolley anyway, so why not take advantage of it?
Took the Orange Line to seaport and just laid on the grass for 10minutes... it was SO nice... if we didn't have to catch the 4:22 and decided to take the 4:52 coaster instead, it would've been nice, but Jeff already called his mom to let her know when he was going to be back, so might as well... always a chance for next time right?

There were these concrete blocks that were great to lay on while waiting for the trolley back to American Plaza... laid there for a little bit
THE famous Kansas City Barbecue where the bar scene from Top Gun was shot?! O=

an out of service Blue Line trolley came by, but we thought it was orange so we got up really quickly, but realized it wasn't... by then, someone else had taken the third bench so we shared two and sat instead
I really like this picture...

Waiting for the CORRECT trolley

Took the Orange Line back to American Plaza, then walked across the street once again to Santa Fe Depot, and boarded the Coaster... went upstairs, and just talked and relaxed until we got back to Sorrento Valley
I saw this while walking to the car... I realized that I haven't posted cloud pictures in a lont time...

Anyway, that completely outlined my little day trip to downtown... Hopefully that wasn't too boring...
Hope you enjoyed the pictures... I'm not sure when the next set will come up because school will once again take over my life starting tonight...
Until next time,
Darren
